About me

Hey, I’m Jess!

I’m a recent U of M graduate with a passion for learning and creating.

Growing up, I spent my time drawing, painting, photographing, and making videos on iMovie. When I got to the University of Michigan I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but programming had always interested me, so I decided to pursue a degree in it. Though the courses were fascinating, I wasn’t passionate about it.

Then, during the fall of my sophomore year, my friend recommended a class at the School of Information. She told me about user experience design, how it combined psychology, art, and technology, and how she thought I should look into it. I was immediately intrigued, and signed up for an introductory SI course that night. In that class, I fell in love with the subject. I applied to the program, and by the next fall semester I had transferred to UMSI.

Since then, my passion for the field has only expanded as I’ve learned about the power that information has, the psychology of usability, and the creating joy through design. Thus, freshly graduated and ready to get out of my hometown, I’m excited for this next chapter, and the opportunity to become better acquainted with the field.
